Job Description
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A contract opportunity is available for a pharmacist with experience in long-term care and mail order pharmacy services, offering a 26-week assignment with potential for temp to direct hire. This role is based in Sterling Heights, MI, and features a dynamic environment supporting both LTC and mail order pharmacy operations.
Schedule & Hours:
- Monday through Friday, rotating shifts (7:00 am–3:30 pm; 1:30 pm–10:00 pm)
- Rotating weekends included
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications in compliance with legal and safety standards
- Monitor patient medication adherence and identify patterns of over-usage
- Maintain thorough and confidential patient records and pharmacy documentation
- Provide thorough consultation to patients on prescription, non-prescription medications, proper dosages, potential side effects, and drug interactions
- Offer patient education on the use of medical devices such as glucose meters and blood pressure monitors
- Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions according to established procedures
- Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks to ensure efficient pharmacy operations
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to optimize patient care and resolve drug-related issues
- Maintain pharmaceutical and medical supply inventory at appropriate levels
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required
- Minimum of 1 year of pharmacy experience
- Prior experience in long-term care environments preferred
- Valid Michigan pharmacy license required
