Position Details
- Schedule: Monday - Friday (8-hour shifts scheduled between 6:30 AM - 6:30 PM)
- Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (800 contract hours)
- Location: San Antonio Texas 78240 United States (plus local clinic coverage) .
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Assessment & History: Gathers detailed medical backgrounds, including primary concerns, hereditary ocular conditions, and pharmacological profiles to coordinate thorough patient evaluations.
- Clinical Diagnostics & Surgical Support: Conducts diagnostic testing-such as sensory-motor evaluations, pupillary assessments, and intraocular pressure monitoring-and assists physicians during laser treatments and minor surgical interventions.
- Facility & Equipment Maintenance: Upholds clinical standards by sterilizing instruments, managing inventory levels, and troubleshooting hardware issues with specialized equipment like autoclaves and tonometers.
- Patient Experience & Workflow: Optimizes patient throughput and manages appointment recovery efforts to ensure efficient clinical operations and high-quality care.
Requirements
- High school diploma
- 2 years of healthcare MA or ophthalmic assistant/tech experience
- Ability to work at varying locations
- CPR Certification
- Drivers license and insurance
Prefered
- Certification as an ophthalmic assistant preferred
- One to Two years' experience ophthalmic assistant preferred
- Some college or a degree
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
