Job Title: Forklift Operator / Materials Handler (2nd Shift) $20
Job Description
This role operates stand up and sit down forklifts to safely move, load, unload, and stage materials in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. The forklift operator ensures accurate inventory handling, proper tagging, and adherence to safety and quality standards while supporting continuous improvement and smooth departmental operations on the 2nd shift.
Responsibilities
- Operate stand up and sit down forklifts and other industrial trucks safely and efficiently to move, lift, stack, tier, and transport products, equipment, and materials.
- Use levers and pedals to control truck movement and lifting apparatus in a precise and controlled manner.
- Unload and stack materials by raising and lowering lifting devices, ensuring stable and secure placement.
- Load and unload materials onto and off pallets, skids, or lifting devices while maintaining safe handling practices.
- Inventory materials on the work floor and assist with tracking and maintaining accurate stock levels.
- Weigh materials or products and record weights on tags, labels, or production schedules as required.
- Ensure correct tagging and identification are on all containers prior to moving them to designated locations.
- Perform daily safety and operational checks on forklifts and related equipment, promptly reporting any issues.
- Lubricate trucks, recharge batteries, fill fuel tanks, or replace liquefied gas tanks as needed to keep equipment in proper working condition.
- Follow all company safety standards, operating procedures, and work instructions while using required personal protective equipment such as gloves, sleeves, and ear plugs.
- Maintain clean and orderly work areas, including aisles, storage locations, and staging zones.
- Support departmental operations by assisting with material handling and related tasks wherever necessary.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities to enhance safety, efficiency, and overall operations.
- Adhere to TS and ISO standards and procedures in all work activities.
- Demonstrate punctual and regular attendance and perform other duties as directed by the supervisor.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience operating stand up forklifts in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience operating sit down forklifts in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts and industrial trucks in accordance with company and industry safety standards.
- Experience with material handling, including loading, unloading, stacking, and staging materials.
- Ability to use RF scanners for inventory and material tracking.
- Familiarity with inventory processes, including counting, tagging, and recording materials.
- Capability to perform basic equipment checks, including lubrication, battery charging, and fuel or gas tank replacement.
- Willingness and ability to work 2nd shift (approximately 1:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.).
- Ability to follow TS and ISO standards and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate tagging, labeling, and documentation.
- Reliability in maintaining punctual and regular attendance.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and consistently use required personal protective equipment.

- Experience working in a heavy industrial or metal stamping environment.
- Comfort working around large industrial equipment and presses.
- Experience participating in continuous improvement or process enhancement initiatives.

Work Environment
The role is based in a heavy industrial facility with several very large metal stamping presses and a high level of material movement throughout the plant. The environment is busy and fast-paced, with a few hundred employees working across the site. Team members operate forklifts and other industrial trucks on the production floor and in storage areas, frequently moving pallets, skids, and containers. Work is performed on 2nd shift, typically from 1:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. Associates follow TS and ISO standards and procedures and must consistently use required safety equipment such as gloves, sleeves, and ear plugs. The setting involves exposure to noise, heavy machinery, and active production lines, and employees are expected to maintain clean and orderly work areas while adhering to all safety and operational guidelines.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lebanon, TN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
