Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced pharmacist seeking to work in a dynamic environment focused on long-term care and mail order pharmacy operations. The role offers a mid shift schedule with regular weekday hours and occasional weekend rotations, providing a balanced work-life rhythm in a professional healthcare setting.

Location: Scranton, PA
Job Type: Contract to Hire
Shift: Monday to Friday, 11am to 7:30pm
Rotating every third Saturday and Sunday, 9am to 5pm
Duration: 26 weeks, temp to direct hire

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately accept, dispense, and oversee prescription medications, ensuring compliance with laws and patient safety.
  • Monitor patient medication adherence and usage patterns, advising on suitability and appropriate use.
  • Maintain confidential patient and pharmacy records with precision and attention to detail.
  • Provide expert consultation to patients regarding medications, including dosage, side effects, interactions, and proper use of medical devices such as blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
  • Offer additional patient services including smoking cessation, blood pressure measurement, and cholesterol management.
  • Prepare compounded sterile and non-sterile medications following established protocols.
  • Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks, ensuring smooth daily operations.
  • Manage pharmaceutical and medical supply inventory effectively.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to identify and resolve drug-related patient issues.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

  • Experience in Long Term Care pharmacy highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with mail order pharmacy practices considered a strong advantage.
  • Knowledge and experience with sterile compounding beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills for patient interaction and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information responsibly.
