Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This role offers an opportunity for an experienced pharmacist to contribute to patient care in a Long Term Care (LTC) and mail order pharmacy environment. The position is a contract-to-hire assignment based in Pittston, PA, working primarily day shifts from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with rotating weekend coverage every third Saturday and Sunday.

Responsibilities include:

  • Accepting and dispensing prescription medications with accuracy and compliance to regulations.
  • Monitoring patient medication use to ensure adherence and detect over-usage.
  • Verifying the suitability of prescribed medications for each patient.
  • Maintaining confidential and accurate patient records and pharmacy files.
  • Advising patients on medication use, possible side effects, and answering related questions.
  • Providing consultation on both prescription and over-the-counter medications, including dosage and potential drug interactions.
  • Offering additional patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure and cholesterol management.
  • Educating patients on the proper use and care of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
  • Compounding medications for internal or external use, including sterile solutions following established protocols.
  • Supervising pharmacy staff such as technicians and clerks to ensure efficient operations.
  • Managing inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
  • Collaborating effectively with healthcare professionals to identify drug-related problems and optimize patient care.

Desired qualifications and experience:

  • Licensed to practice pharmacy in Pennsylvania.
  • Experience in Long Term Care pharmacy settings.
  • Background in mail order pharmacy operations.
  • Sterile compounding skills are a plus.

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
  • Rotating weekend shifts every third weekend, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
