Job Description:

Pharmacy Technician within Optum Infusion Services

Location: 5895 Core Road, Suite 417, North Charleston, SC 29204 (In-person position)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM

Pay: $20/hr

Positions in this function perform various duties related to the fulfillment of prescription orders, dispensing unit doses, specialty pharmaceuticals, injectables, IV, enterals, and related supplies following state and federal regulations and company policies and procedures. May compound medications using appropriate components, supplies, and sterile/ventilated environment. Processes, packs, and ships outgoing pharmacy orders, ensuring drug, related supplies, and patient collateral (education materials) are included. May also perform drug/supply ordering and inventory/warehouse duties, including proper storage of drugs and supplies, appropriate refrigeration of perishable product, monitoring and adjusting/calibrating pharmacy equipment, and filling dispensing units.

Day to day responsibilities (as permitted by state regulation):

• Prep and scan documents, verify member/patient data, and submit prescription orders in the computer system
• Contact members/patients to validate data, resolve rejected claims, request payment information, establish priority of order or delivery details, consult on medication issues, and set up treatment in on-site facilities
• Interpret provider prescriptions and create orders
• Access, input, and retrieve prescription and medical/lab information from the computer system
• Verify whether orders/drugs are reimbursable/covered

The ideal candidate has:

• Registered Pharmacy Technician certification with the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy (preferred)
• Previous infusion or hospital experience (preferred, not required)
