Job Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented professional Schaumburg, Illinois. This contract-to-hire position with plays a key part in coordinating domestic and international freight activities, customs-related documentation, and event-site logistics to keep shipments moving on schedule. The ideal candidate brings strong communication skills, hands-on freight forwarding knowledge, and the flexibility to adapt to show timelines and travel requirements.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the full lifecycle of fairs and events shipments, from initial coordination and pre-alert review through final delivery and return movement planning.
• Confirm shipping paperwork is complete and accurate while ensuring each movement aligns with event instructions and destination-specific compliance requirements.
• Work closely with customs brokerage partners and internal teams to support prompt import clearance, export processing, carnet handling, and related trade formalities.
• Arrange freight capacity and transportation services across air, ocean, and road modes to meet event schedules and customer expectations.
• Manage onsite logistics by preparing show manifests, coordinating delivery timing, and supporting exhibitors, organizers, vendors, and service providers during event operations.
• Provide clear and timely updates to overseas agents, partner offices, and customers regarding shipment milestones, issues, and delivery status.
• Support outbound and re-export activity after events by organizing required documentation, transportation bookings, and customs-related follow-up.
• Handle job file administration, billing coordination, collection follow-up, and closure of completed event shipments.
• Contribute to business development efforts by following up on exhibitor opportunities and preparing quotes for customers participating in domestic and international events.
• Degree preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience in freight forwarding, otherwise air and/or ocean expeirence.
• Working knowledge of import and export processes, including air, ocean, road transportation, and customs clearance procedures.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with customers, agents, vendors, and internal teams.
• Collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Background in logistics, shipping functions, or shipping and receiving within the transport industry is highly valued.
