Job Description
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A 2nd shift pharmacist opportunity is available in a long-term care mail-order environment, offering a contract-to-hire position lasting 26 weeks. The schedule runs Monday through Friday from 1:00 pm to 9:30 pm, with rotating shifts every third Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately.
- Monitor patient medication compliance and identify over-usage patterns, ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Verify the suitability of prescribed medications for patients.
- Maintain confidential patient records and pharmacy files with precision.
- Provide patient counseling regarding medication usage, potential side effects, and answer inquiries.
- Offer consultations on prescription and non-prescription medications, including storage, dosage, side effects, and interactions.
- Deliver patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure measurement, and cholesterol management.
- Educate patients on the proper use of medical devices, including blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
- Compound medications for internal and external use, preparing sterile solutions following established procedures.
- Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks to ensure smooth pharmacy operations.
- Manage pharmaceutical and medical supply inventory efficiently.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to identify and resolve drug-related issues.
Desired Qualifications:
- Licensed pharmacist in Pennsylvania.
- Experience in Long Term Care pharmacy is a strong plus.
- Mail order pharmacy experience beneficial.
- Sterile compounding proficiency preferred.
