1st Class Welder/Fitter

B&D Contracting is hiring experienced 1st Class Welder/Fitters for industrial, marine, and fabrication work. The ideal candidate will have strong structural fitting and welding skills and be able to work independently from drawings, specifications, and measurements.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform structural fitting and welding on steel components and assemblies.

• Fit, align, position, and weld structural steel according to drawings and specifications.

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, and measurements.

• Lay out, cut, fit, tack, and weld steel components.

• Use grinders, torches, plasma cutters, and other fabrication tools.

• Check completed work for proper fit, alignment, and weld quality.

• Make repairs and modifications to existing steel structures when required.

• Maintain tools, welding equipment, and work areas.

• Follow all company and jobsite safety procedures.

• Work effectively with supervisors, welders, fitters, and other craft personnel.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a1st Class Welder/Fitter in a shipyard, fabrication shop, industrial, or heavy construction environment.

• Strong experience in structural fitting and Stick Welding

• Ability to pass required welding and fitting tests.

• Ability to read and understand blueprints and fabrication drawings.

• Ability to accurately use tape measures, squares, levels, and other layout tools.

• Knowledge of welding procedures, joint preparation, and structural steel fabrication.

• Ability to work safely and productively with minimal supervision.

• Must have reliable transportation and dependable attendance.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work in various positions for extended periods. Must be able to lift and handle materials and equipment associated with welding and fitting work and work in industrial or marine environments.
