About this job

**Summary:** As an engineering intern on the AR Product Design Engineering team, you will help design solutions for next generation consumer augmented reality products. You will explore and refine a range of designs through iterative prototyping and collaboration, developing a thorough understanding of the product design process, manufacturing, and validation.Our internships are twelve (12) to sixteen (16) weeks long. **Required Skills:** Product Design Engineering Intern Responsibilities: 1. Brainstorming innovative ideas and defining requirements balancing performance, comfort, and aesthetics. 2. Design mechanical modules and systems including but not limited to enclosures, thermal solutions, dynamic components, etc. 3. Detail 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software. 4. Perform engineering analysis of design functionality including but not limited to free body diagrams, weight analysis, tolerance analysis, and statistical analysis. 5. Rapidly prototype designs using 3D printing, CNC, and other fabrication techniques. 6. Identify and resolve issues by troubleshooting and iterating on design. 7. Validate design intent and functional requirements through data driven testing and analysis. 8. Collaborate with electrical engineers, optical engineers, manufacturing engineers, reliability engineers, industrial engineers, and more to integrate hardware systems. 9. Partner with suppliers to ensure design is manufacturable at scale. **Minimum Qualifications:** Minimum Qualifications: 10. Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Bachelors or Masters in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, aero/astro engineering, product design engineering, or related field 11. Experience using 3D CAD software such as solidworks, Creo, NX, CATIA 12. Proficiency in testing & evaluating mechanical designs 13. Knowledge of various rapid prototyping methods (3D printing, CNC, laser cutting) 14. Familiarity with mass production manufacturing methods such as injection molding, die casting, sheet metal, and CNC 15. Fundamental knowledge of material properties for plastics and metals **Preferred Qualifications:** Preferred Qualifications: 16. Experience with simulation analysis (structural, thermal simulation tools) 17. Specific 3D CAD experience using Siemens NX 18.
