Description and Requirements

The Renewable Technician II is an independently qualified field technician responsible for safely maintaining utility-scale renewable energy facilities. Solar PV is the primary technology. At facilities with BESS, the technician independently performs corresponding BESS activities within established procedures, qualifications, and authorization limits.

The position executes preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance, inspections, testing, intermediate troubleshooting, component replacement, and restoration activities. Equipment may include PV modules, trackers, combiner equipment, inverters, batteries, Inverter/PCS equipment, transformers, switchgear, HVAC, fire-protection interfaces, SCADA, communications, balance-of-plant systems, and AC and DC circuits ranging from medium voltage 34.5kV to 12VDC.

The incumbent independently applies approved procedures, LOTO, work permits, electrical test methods, SCADA/HMI tools, and SAP/CMMS processes. The role resolves common failures within qualification limits and escalates complex or high-risk conditions to senior technicians or site leadership.

  • Use SCADA, monitoring systems, HMI tools, drawings, manuals, and equipment data to investigate alarms and verify equipment condition.
  • Complete work orders, service records, material transactions, inspection results, and operational updates accurately and promptly.
