The Project Manager leads complex, high-impact projects and programs spanning diverse scopes, budgets, and team sizes, often with significant organizational influence. As a technical leader with deep expertise, this role tackles unique and unstructured challenges, requiring advanced problem-solving and strategic thinking. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the Project Manager applies advanced project management methodologies aligned with institutional goals to drive results.
Responsibilities may include shaping program strategies, administrating policies, and managing resources. Projects may be transitioned to business owners for long-term maintenance upon completion. Requires level of expertise in project management such as project management certificate and / or quality improvement processes like Six Sigma or Lean or equivalent project management experience.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience/training.
- Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-wide projects involving cross-functional teams, technical integrations, and business system implementations.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or several years of demonstrated experience managing enterprise-wide projects
- Exceptional project management, organizational, and communication skills, with a strategic mindset and ability to drive results across broad, complex initiatives.
- Ability to synthesize critical information, plan contingencies, and align cross-disciplinary efforts with business objectives.
- Proven ability to gather requirements, analyze business processes, and implement systems that improve operations and outcomes.
- Track record of managing risks, adapting to shifting priorities, and delivering complex projects on time and within budget using tools such as Smartsheet, Jira, or ServiceNow.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate in quality assurance processes like Six Sigma or Lean

- Project leadership experience within a university, healthcare, or enterprise HR environment.

Department Overview
The HR Workforce Solutions & Analytics department is a vital unit within the UC Davis Human Resources Division, serving both the campus and UC Davis Health populations. Our mission is to enable effective human resources operations through the strategic use of technology, data, and project management.
The department is composed of three specialized teams: HR Applications, which is responsible for the administration, support, and optimization of core HR systems; the HR Project Management Office (PMO), which manages HR initiatives aligned with the HR three-year strategic roadmap; and HR Data Analytics, which delivers HR workforce data reporting, analytics, and insights to inform decision-making.
