Role Overview

BEPC is seeking a Bioprocess Technician to support our customer’s biopharmaceutical

manufacturing operations in Oceanside, CA. This position plays an important role in producing

medicines within a highly automated, controlled, and cGMP-regulated manufacturing environment.

The technician will follow established recipes, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety

requirements, and manufacturing documentation while supporting production activities across

Production Services, Upstream Manufacturing or Downstream Manufacturing.


New team members will typically begin in one production area, allowing them to develop technical

capabilities and take on increasingly complex assignments. Opportunities to gain experience in

additional manufacturing areas may become available as proficiency develops.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform bioprocess manufacturing activities according to established SOPs, cGMP
  • requirements, safety procedures, and production documentation.
  • Utilize automated systems to operate, clean, and sterilize production equipment.
  • Follow detailed manufacturing recipes and procedures to support consistent production
  • processes.
  • Perform weighing and aliquoting of raw materials and support small-scale solution
  • preparation.
  • Prepare media, buffers, and other solutions required for manufacturing processes.
  • Clean, assemble, prepare, and sterilize manufacturing equipment and components.
  • Operate glass washers, autoclaves, and other production equipment.
  • Execute environmental monitoring activities throughout the manufacturing facility.
  • Support small-scale cell culture operations using appropriate aseptic techniques.
  • Maintain cell banks and perform general seed laboratory operations as assigned.
  • Operate fermenters, centrifuges, harvest systems, and protein purification equipment.
  • Operate and clean fixed tanks and filtration systems.
  • Support large-scale column chromatography processes.
  • Perform cell culture harvesting using centrifugation and depth filtration techniques.
  • Support purification and reformulation processes as assigned.
  • Accurately document manufacturing activities and maintain complete production records.
  • Recognize non-routine conditions, problems, or deviations and appropriately escalate them.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory
  • requirements.
  • Immediately report safety or environmental incidents, including injuries, illnesses, near
  • misses, and identified safety concerns.
  • Collaborate effectively with manufacturing team members while independently completing
  • assigned responsibilities.


Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, communicate, and follow detailed instructions in English.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to learn technical manufacturing processes, equipment, and automated systems.
  • Computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft and Google platforms.
  • Ability to accurately document and record manufacturing information.
  • Ability to recognize non-routine problems or deviations and escalate them appropriately.
  • Strong time-management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a manufacturing team.
  • Ability to complete required training and demonstrate technical competency in assigned
  • manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work required overtime as business needs dictate.
  • Ability to work any of the required manufacturing shifts based on business needs.
  • Ability to work 100% onsite in Oceanside, CA.
  • Ability to successfully complete job-related training, testing, and certifications required for
  • work in a cGMP and quality-regulated environment.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Associate degree or biotechnology certificate from an approved program.
  • Previous experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, bioprocessing, or regulated
  • manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with cGMP manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with cell culture, purification, solution preparation, environmental monitoring,
  • autoclaves, or automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Manufacturing Areas
  • Depending on operational needs, technicians may be assigned to one of three primary
  • manufacturing areas:
  • Production Services: Raw material weighing and aliquoting, small-scale solution
  • preparation, equipment-part preparation, washing, autoclaving, and environmental
  • monitoring.
  • Upstream Manufacturing: Cell growth from inoculation through large-scale bioreactors, cell
  • culture operations, and harvesting through centrifugation and depth filtration.
  • Downstream Manufacturing: Purification of cellular harvest using chromatography and
  • reformulation techniques, along with preparation of product for shipment to fill/finish
  • operations.


Shift & Training Information

This manufacturing operation supports continuous facility operations. Candidates must have open

shift availability, as specific shift placement cannot be guaranteed.


Available schedules may include:

10-Hour Day Shift: 6:00 AM–4:30 PM

10-Hour Mid Shift: 10:00 AM–8:30 PM

10-Hour Swing Shift: 12:30 PM–11:00 PM

10-Hour Swing Shift: 1:30 PM–12:00 AM


Schedules may run Sunday–Wednesday or Wednesday–Saturday, depending on

assignment.


Initial onboarding is expected to consist of approximately 3–4 weeks of training, Monday through

Friday from 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, followed by on-the-job training on the assigned shift.


Physical & Work Environment Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods while performing manufacturing activities.

Ability to navigate a large manufacturing facility, including climbing multiple flights of stairs.

Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

Ability to work around hazardous materials and chemicals as required.

Ability to work within a controlled cleanroom environment.

Ability to wear required cleanroom and safety PPE, which may include cleanroom scrubs, full

cleanroom suits, gloves, hair coverings, safety glasses, and steel-toe footwear.

Ability to comply with cleanroom requirements regarding cosmetics, jewelry, and personal

electronic devices.

Ability to follow all applicable safety, contamination-control, cGMP, and quality procedures.
