Sr. Payroll Specialist

We are seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to join a growing staffing company here in Phoenix, Arizona. This is a full-time, permanent position with comprehensive benefits. Work to be performed onsite (as opposed to remote).

Responsibilities:

• Process weekly payroll for multi-state employees.
• Ensure accurate and timely calculation of wages, overtime, and prevailing wage rates.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, tax, and labor regulations.
• Manage garnishments, child support, and other wage deductions.
• Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate reports for accuracy.
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies in a professional manner.
• Document all employee communications directly on their profiles using our internal system.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive payroll information.
• Train and mentor junior payroll staff; develop and update payroll procedures and documentation.

Qualifications:

• Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll regulations and compliance.
• Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP Workforce Now).
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations.
• Intermediate Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities to handle high-volume payroll cycles.
• Effective communication skills for working with diverse employee groups and management.
• Problem-solving skills for troubleshooting payroll and system issues.

Preferred Skills (Not Required)

• Experience with certified payroll reporting for government-funded construction projects.
• Industry Experience in Construction, Healthcare, or Staffing.
• Experience with timekeeping systems (e.g., Kronos).
• Bilingual (Spanish).
• Process Employment Verification and E-Verify.
