Job Description
As Kitchen and Bath Designer / Sales Consultant, you will be responsible for developing new business and designing kitchen, bath, and cabinetry projects for RK Design LLC dba Kitchen Studio of Albuquerque. This role guides clients from their first visit to the showroom through design, selections, pricing, and a signed contract, and then hands each project off to the Project Manager for ordering and installation.
The Designer / Sales Consultant reports to the General Manager and ownership, and works closely with the Project Manager, Project Coordinator, purchasing, accounting, cabinet manufacturers, vendors, Fellowship Homes, and trade partners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Designer / Sales Consultant is required to perform the following duties and responsibilities in a
professional manner:
Sales and Client Development:
— Greet clients in the showroom, assess their needs, budget, timeline, and job scope, and guide them through product and design options.
— Respond to leads promptly and follow up consistently with prospective clients through each stage of the sales process.
— Prepare estimates, proposals, and contracts in accordance with company pricing and margin
guidelines.
— Present designs, pricing, and proposals to clients clearly and professionally, and convert qualified leads into signed contracts.
— Meet sales goals and maintain an organized lead and project pipeline in BuilderTrend or other
company systems.
— Collect deposits and required signatures in accordance with company policy.
— Build and maintain referral relationships with builders, contractors, interior designers, realtors,
and past clients.
— Support Fellowship Homes clients with cabinetry design and selections as assigned.
— Help maintain the showroom, displays, and sample library so they are current, organized, and
professionally presented.
Design:
— Perform on-site measurements and document existing conditions, utilities, and constraints.
— Create kitchen, bath, and cabinetry designs, floor plans, elevations, and renderings using 2020
Design.
— Guide clients through selections, including cabinet door style, finish, construction, hardware,
accessories, countertops, backsplash, tile, plumbing fixtures, and lighting as applicable.
— Apply sound design principles and NKBA planning guidelines for function, clearances, storage, and ergonomics.
— Confirm appliance specifications, clearances, and panel-ready requirements are reflected in the
design.
— Confirm that selected plumbing fixtures are appropriate for the approved design, cabinetry layout, countertop configuration, and intended installation.
— Produce accurate final drawings, specifications, and cabinet orders for Project Manager review
before orders are released.
— Assist in creating and preparing client presentations, including design concepts.
— Prepare and document design change orders and communicate their cost and schedule impact to the client.
Project Handoff and Support
— Conduct a pre-construction handoff meeting with the Project Manager on each sold project to
review scope, drawings, selections, and client expectations.
— Remain the primary point of contact for design questions throughout the project.
— Visit active projects as needed to support installation questions and confirm the design is being
executed as intended.
— Participate in final client walkthroughs and support warranty and design-related follow-up.
— Maintain organized project files, drawings, selections, and client communication records as
required by the company.
— Assist in developing processes and procedures that improve the design, sales, and handoff
workflow.
— Maintain good attendance, punctuality, professionalism, accountability, and a positive attitude.
— Perform other duties as assigned.
Sales and Pricing Responsibility
Pricing guidelines are established by ownership and the General Manager. The Designer / Sales
Consultant is expected to price projects accurately and completely, protect company margins, and make sure the design, the proposal, and the cabinet order all match. Discounts, pricing exceptions, and non- standard terms must be approved by the General Manager or ownership before they are offered to a client.
Design and ordering errors affect lead times, cost, and the client relationship, so accuracy and attention to detail are required at every step.
Physical Requirements
This position involves sitting, standing, walking, bending, and lifting in the showroom, in client homes, and on active job sites. The employee must be able to lift and carry samples, doors, and materials up to 50 pounds and must be able to access job sites under normal construction conditions.
Qualifications
— Kitchen and bath or cabinetry design experience required.
— Proficiency in 2020 Design required.
— Sales or client-facing experience strongly preferred.
— Knowledge of cabinet construction, specifications, and installation is highly desirable; construction experience is a plus.
— Strong organizational, analytical, and negotiation skills.
— Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with clients, installers, and internal team members.
— Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook); BuilderTrend experience
preferred.
— Ability to manage multiple clients, designs, and deadlines at one time while maintaining a positive
attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
— Ability to work independently and carry assignments to completion within company guidelines
and standard accepted practices.
— NKBA certification or coursework preferred.
— High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher preferred.
