Schedule: mon tues thurs fri saturday off on Wednesday 6a-3p
Location: Saint Cloud FL 34769
Float / Coverage Area: Multiple sites
Job Type: Local contract
Contract Length: 06+months
Pay Range: $20.00 to $24.40/hour*
*Pay offered is based on experience, expertise, credentialing, and education.
Phlebotomist – Duties & Responsibilities
Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection from patients of all age groups.
Verify patient identities and ensure accurate specimen labeling.
Collect, process, handle, and transport blood specimens according to laboratory protocols.
Follow infection control, safety, and HIPAA guidelines.
Prepare patients for blood collection and explain procedures to ensure comfort.
Maintain accurate patient records and document specimen collection.
Handle blood collection equipment, including needles, syringes, butterfly needles, and vacutainers.
Monitor patients for adverse reactions, dizziness, or fainting during and after blood draws.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe phlebotomy station.
Ensure proper specimen storage, handling, and timely delivery to the laboratory.
Perform quality control checks and maintain adequate inventory of phlebotomy supplies.
Provide excellent customer service and maintain patient confidentiality.
High school diploma or GED required.
Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program preferred.
Phlebotomy certification (CPT, NHA, ASCP or equivalent) preferred or required, depending on the employer and state.
Clinical training or hands-on experience in venipuncture and specimen collection preferred.
