Job Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Human Resources Assistant to support day-to-day HR operations for a growing organization in Charleston, South Carolina. This contract position with permanent potential offers the opportunity to contribute across onboarding, employee records, recruiting support, and compliance-related tasks while working in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be organized, responsive, and comfortable managing multiple administrative priorities with accuracy and professionalism.
Responsibilities:
• Coordinate pre-employment and onboarding activities for new team members, ensuring required documents and records are completed accurately and on time.
• Manage employee separation processes, including preparing termination paperwork and updating personnel records as needed.
• Review and process screening and verification activities such as background investigations, motor vehicle record checks, and employment confirmations.
• Assist with unemployment and income verification requests by gathering documentation and responding within established timelines.
• Support recruiting efforts by posting openings on job boards, monitoring applicant flow, and maintaining recruitment-related reports and inventory records.
• Track applications and candidate activity within the applicant tracking process to help keep recruitment efforts organized and current.
• Help maintain accurate information in HR systems and personnel files while supporting general HR administrative functions and compliance tasks.
• Previous experience in human resources administration or a closely related support role.• Working knowledge of onboarding procedures, employee documentation, and HR recordkeeping practices.
• Experience handling background checks, employment verifications, or similar pre-employment screening activities.
• Familiarity with unemployment claim processing and responding to verification requests.
• Ability to manage job postings, applicant screening steps, and applicant tracking system updates.
• Proficiency with HRIS platforms and standard office software, with strong attention to detail in data entry.
• Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills in a fast-moving work environment.
