Job Description
We are seeking an HR Coordinator for a contract opportunity in the Columbia, SC area. This role will support a variety of human resources functions, including employee relations, leave administration, benefits coordination, workers' compensation, onboarding, and general HR operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, service-focused, and comfortable handling sensitive employee matters while maintaining accurate records and supporting day-to-day HR activities.
Responsibilities:
- Support employee leave processes, ensuring requests are documented and tracked in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
- Assist with benefits administration, including responding to employee inquiries and supporting enrollment and changes.
- Coordinate workers' compensation activities, maintain records, and communicate with employees and third-party partners as needed.
- Provide onboarding support and assist with a variety of HR administrative functions.
- Support recruiting activities, including candidate screening, interview coordination, and documentation.
- Maintain accurate employee records and update information within HR systems.
- Utilize Excel and other tools to organize data, track HR activity, and support reporting needs.
- Respond to employee questions and concerns with professionalism, discretion, and empathy.
- Assist the HR team with day-to-day operational needs, helping ensure continuity and efficient department support.
• Experience supporting human resources functions such as benefits administration, leave management, onboarding, or HR compliance.
• Ability to interact with employees in a compassionate, attentive manner, especially when addressing sensitive or challenging concerns.
• Proficiency with HRIS platforms; experience with Paycom is strongly preferred.
• Strong Excel skills, including the ability to work with formulas and VLOOKUP functions.
• Familiarity with candidate screening processes and general HR recordkeeping practices.
• Knowledge of workers’ compensation administration and employee leave coordination is preferred.
• Strong organizational skills with careful attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
