PRESS LEAD / PRODUCTION SHIFT LEADER - 12-HOUR SHIFTS

Rome, GA (Northwest Georgia) | Full-time, direct hire

Schedule: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, 3/2 rotating schedule | $1.50/hour night shift differential

Pay: $30 to $34/hour depending on experience

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

A flexible packaging manufacturer in Rome, GA is adding a Press Lead to run a production shift in its wide web flexographic printing operation. This is a player-coach role: you will supervise and coordinate the shift's press crews, keep production on schedule, train and develop operators and apprentices, and serve as the link between the floor and management.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Supervise production associates on your shift and coordinate activities to hit daily production goals

- Monitor processes for safety, quality and productivity compliance

- Arrive ahead of shift to review the schedule and staffing and complete the shift-to-shift tie-in with the prior lead

- Run setup and start-up procedures with urgency for systematic, timely press start-ups

- Drive quality control so product is made First Time Right, including auditing roll-to-roll checks

- Train, coach and evaluate team members; assign qualified trainers to new hires and track training completion

- Make sure every associate is quality certified and completes required job training

- Keep accurate records of output, downtime, scrap and safety incidents

- Work with maintenance to evaluate and repair equipment through the CMMS system to minimize unplanned downtime

- Partner with quality, maintenance and logistics to minimize disruptions

- Lead Kaizen events and quarterly safety and scrap projects; bring improvement ideas

- Act as first point of contact for shift issues and escalate as needed

- Support the Shift Supervisor on progressive discipline

- Back up direct reports on critical tasks when needed

WHAT YOU NEED

- 3+ years in a supervisory, lead or leadership role in a production environment (flexographic printing or packaging strongly preferred)

- High attention to detail for paperwork and system entries

- Working knowledge of Windows and business operating systems

- Ability to read job tickets and give clear verbal direction

- Math skills and ability to use tape measures and micrometers

- Strong verbal and written communication

- Experience with effective teams, project management and continuous improvement strongly preferred

- Color vision sufficient to support press setups and print quality

WORK ENVIRONMENT

- Lift and handle up to 75 lbs; stand for the full shift

- Bend, stand, flex and reach as needed; hands-on, lead by example

- Willing to work beyond a normal workweek when production demands

- Fast-paced production floor; PPE required
