Autonomous Vehicle Operator

Position Summary:

As an Autonomous Vehicle Operator, you will be responsible for operating and assessing a self-driving vehicle engaged in autonomous mode. You will be collecting autonomous-driving, manual-driving, and mapping data, as well as providing feedback to the appropriate teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain a high standard of safety both inside and outside of the vehicle
• Demonstrate situational awareness and adaptability to environmental changes
• Communicate professionally with management, engineers, and the public, serving as a liaison for the project’s technology
• Operate vehicles alone or with a co-driver for 6-8 hours a day
• Monitor multiple software systems with continuous focus
• Operate vehicles on various surfaces and in varying environments

Required Qualifications:

• Must be at least 21 years old
• Must have a valid United States driver’s license
• Must be able to pass a drug test
• Must have a clean Motor Vehicle Record
• Must have open availability

Skills & Abilities:

• Proficiency in parallel parking
• Familiarity with laptop computers and GSuite apps
• Proficiency in using touchscreen smartphones
• Strong attention to detail and ability to articulate thoughts concisely
• Ability to adapt new technologies
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple technologies simultaneously
• Willingness to work varied shifts, including early mornings, evenings, overnights, and weekends
• Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
• Self-motivated and good judgement in fast-paced, high-stress environments

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to sit in a vehicle for 6-8 hours a day
• Must be well-rested and prepared to drive daily
• Must report to work with a 0.0 blood alcohol level
• Must be able to walk for extended lengths of time
• Must be able to crouch, stoop, bend, and kneel
• Must be able to move objects up to 50 lbs
• Must be able to push/pull
• Must be able to switch between standing and sitting
• Conditions will be both inside and outside
