Fiber Technician

• Install, route, dress, label, and manage fiber optic cabling within data centers
• Perform fiber testing and certification using OTDR, optical power meters, and light sources
• Troubleshoot fiber connectivity issues, signal loss, high attenuation, and damaged fiber
• Test and verify fiber links to ensure they meet project specifications
• Perform fiber terminations, splicing, connector cleaning, and inspection as needed
• Work with Single-Mode (SM) and Multi-Mode (MM) fiber
• Install and maintain fiber patch panels, enclosures, cassettes, and distribution systems
• Patch and troubleshoot fiber connections between racks, cabinets, and network equipment
• Read and follow fiber schedules, drawings, port maps, and labeling standards
• Document test results and completed work accurately
• Maintain proper bend radius, cable management, and fiber handling practices
• Follow data center safety, security, and quality-control procedures

• Previous experience performing inside plant fiber work, preferably in a data center environment
• Strong understanding of fiber optic cabling, connectors, and testing procedures
• Experience using OTDRs, optical power meters, VFLs, and fiber inspection/cleaning equipment
• Ability to troubleshoot and isolate fiber faults
• Familiarity with LC, SC, MPO/MTP, and other common fiber connector types
• Knowledge of Single-Mode and Multi-Mode fiber
• Ability to read prints, fiber schedules, and labeling documentation
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a high-security, mission-critical environment
