Job Title: Janitor / Environmental Services (EVS) AideJob Description

The Janitor / Environmental Services (EVS) Aide maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the hospital. This role supports infection prevention, patient satisfaction, and smooth facility operations by ensuring all assigned areas meet established cleanliness, safety, and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities
  • Clean and disinfect patient rooms, bathrooms, operating rooms, and common areas in accordance with hospital protocols and infection control standards.
  • Perform routine and terminal cleaning procedures to support infection prevention and control throughout the facility.
  • Empty trash, biohazard waste, and recycling bins in compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Restock supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, soap, and hand sanitizer in assigned areas.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors using appropriate equipment, solutions, and techniques.
  • Perform floor care duties, including buffing and other specialized floor maintenance tasks.
  • Follow proper handling, storage, and disposal procedures for hazardous materials and chemicals.
  • Respond promptly to spills, accidents, and urgent cleaning needs to maintain a safe environment.
  • Maintain cleaning equipment in good working condition and report any maintenance or repair needs promptly.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including safety, infection control, and HIPAA confidentiality standards.
  • Communicate effectively with nursing staff, patients, and team members to coordinate cleaning tasks and support patient care.
  • Provide customer serviceoriented support to patients, visitors, and staff by ensuring a clean, welcoming environment.

Work Environment

This role is based in a regulated-temperature hospital environment that is fast-paced and patient-focused. You will work around cleaning chemicals, bodily fluids, and potentially infectious materials, with proper personal protective equipment provided. The position follows a 1st shift schedule of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with rotating weekends, and may occasionally require flexibility to support operational needs. The work involves frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing carts, and operating cleaning equipment in clinical and non-clinical areas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
