Job Title: Shop Laborer Metal Grinding and Painting

Job Description

This role focuses on grinding, smoothing, and finishing metal components in a production environment, preparing parts for painting, and applying coatings to completed fixtures and assemblies. You will use hand grinders, power tools, and painting equipment to produce high-quality finished metal products while maintaining a clean and safe workspace.

Responsibilities

• Grind and smooth welded metal components using hand grinders and other power tools.
• Remove weld splatter and clean metal surfaces to prepare them for finishing.
• Prepare metal parts for painting through sanding, deburring, and other surface preparation activities.
• Apply paint and coatings to finished fixtures and assemblies according to production requirements.
• Perform polishing and metal finishing tasks to achieve the required surface quality.
• Conduct visual inspections of parts and assemblies to ensure quality workmanship and adherence to specifications.
• Handle and work with metal components and finished assemblies safely and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area within the warehouse environment.
• Follow all safety procedures when using grinders, hand tools, and painting equipment.

Essential Skills

• Experience using hand grinders and power tools in a production or shop environment.
• Previous experience in metal fabrication, welding, grinding, or paint preparation.
• Ability to perform metal prep tasks such as grinding, deburring, sanding, and polishing.
• Experience with painting or coating metal components in an industrial setting.
• Comfort working with metal components and finished assemblies.
• Ability to perform visual inspections to verify quality and workmanship.
• Capability to use general hand tools and basic production equipment safely.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with industrial painting processes and equipment is preferred.
• Experience in metal finishing or metal fabrication environments.
• Familiarity with production workflows involving grinding, painting, and assembly.
• Attention to detail and a strong focus on producing high-quality finished products.

Work Environment

You will work in a clean warehouse environment focused on metal fabrication, grinding, and painting. The role involves regular use of grinders, hand tools, power tools, and painting equipment while handling metal components and finished assemblies. The workspace emphasizes cleanliness and organization, supporting safe and efficient production activities.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carson, CA.

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Carson,CA.
