Registered Nurse School Setting - New Orleans, LA

Step into a dynamic contract opportunity serving as a school nurse in the vibrant New Orleans area! This 35-hour-per-week role offers the chance to make a lasting difference in the lives of students across one or two campuses (assignments determined by district needs). As a school nurse, you'll partner with educators, staff, and families to support student health and well-being for the 2026–2027 school year.

Key Qualifications:

• Active RN license (BSN preferred, ASN accepted)
• Previous school nursing experience highly valued, but not required
• Proficiency with tracheostomy and g-tube care, supporting diabetic students, conducting IEPs, and student screenings
• Strong skills in record keeping and training non-medical staff
• Comfortable working flexibly across campuses as assigned (East Bank and West Bank)
• Experience delegating to and collaborating with school teams
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• Technologically savvy in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Sheets
• Passion for supporting children’s health and development, not just seeking a routine assignment
• Ability to pass district-specific credentialing, including drug screening and fingerprinting

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver routine and emergency healthcare to students
• Oversee medication administration and health procedures
• Conduct health screenings and participate in IEP meetings
• Provide training and guidance to school staff on health protocols
• Maintain accurate health records and documentation
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
• Support a safe and inclusive school environment

This contract runs from ASAP through late May 2027 and requires completion of a district RN questionnaire as part of the application process.
