Job Description
Bring your expertise as a Special Education Teacher to a supportive elementary environment near Huntington Beach. This contract opportunity is ideal for dedicated professionals committed to empowering elementary-aged students with behavioral needs and those on the autism spectrum.
As the lead educator in a specialized classroom, you’ll be integral in shaping individualized learning experiences, fostering growth, and providing a positive, inclusive atmosphere. The role runs from now until June 2027, with daily hours from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM and a 6.5-hour student contact day.
Key Qualifications:
- Current, active California Special Education Teaching Credential (proof required)
- Experience working with elementary students, particularly those with behavioral needs and autism spectrum disorders
- Ability to collaborate with paraprofessionals and other support staff
- Strong understanding of IEP processes, appropriate modifications, and behavioral supports
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Commitment to creating an accepting and structured classroom community
Daily Responsibilities:
- Lead instruction for a specialized classroom focused on students with behavioral and ASD needs
- Adapt and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Monitor student progress and collaborate with families and multidisciplinary teams
- Develop creative strategies and differentiated lessons to promote engagement
- Foster social, emotional, and academic growth in your classroom
- Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all students
