Job Description
Step into a pivotal role supporting elementary students with behavioral needs and autism spectrum disorders within an Extended Support Needs (ESN) classroom. This contract position runs through June 2027, offering a meaningful opportunity to positively impact young learners in a collaborative environment. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch, totaling 6.5 hours daily.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid and active California teaching credentials in Special Education (credentials must be current at time of application)
- Experience working with elementary-aged students, especially those with behavioral challenges or ASD
- Ability to implement IEPs, adapt curriculum, and use evidence-based behavior interventions
- Strong collaborative skills for working with instructional aides, fellow educators, and related service providers
- Excellent communication abilities with students, families, and staff
- Commitment through the end of the school year
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students with various behavioral and autism spectrum needs
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s requirements
- Manage classroom routines, ensuring a safe and structured environment
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to assess progress and adjust strategies as needed
- Engage regularly with parents and guardians, providing updates and support
- Maintain thorough, confidential documentation for compliance and student success
