Job Description
Bring your expertise as a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to enrich learning environments and support communication within schools. Two rewarding contract opportunities are available for professionals dedicated to facilitating access and engagement for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
Available Positions:
Position 1
- Full-time schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00am-3:00pm
- Assignment runs until May 28, 2027
- Located onsite at a vibrant educational center in Vernon Hills
Position 2
- Part-time schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am-12:00pm
- Assignment runs until May 20, 2027
- Located onsite at a welcoming high school in Grayslake
Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and educational interpreting
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher with ISBE Approval OR
- EIPA score of 3.0-3.4 with ISBE Interim Approval
- Acceptable alternative credentials: BEI, ISAS, CI/CT, or NIC with ISBE Approval
- Previous experience in a school or educational setting is highly valued
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide interpretation for students, staff, and teachers across classroom and school activities
- Support clear communication and foster an inclusive classroom environment
- Adapt interpreting techniques to various learning and communication styles
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
