Special Education Teacher in Metairie, LA

Key Qualifications:

• Active Louisiana Department of Education certification, including Special Education (SPED) endorsement (required)
• Professional experience as a Special Education Teacher in K–12 environments strongly preferred
• Ability to mentor and support non-certified teachers with instructional strategies, IEP documentation, progress monitoring, and data collection
• Flexibility to work across multiple school sites with varying schedules and needs
• Must meet all district credentialing requirements, including background check, drug test, and fingerprinting
• Strong organizational skills and a commitment to educational excellence
• Not accepting candidates with temporary or provisional licenses

Responsibilities:

• Serve as a traveling special education resource, supporting various schools in the district
• Mentor and assist non-certified teachers with IEPs, instructional planning, and compliance documentation
• Provide guidance and training on effective teaching methods for diverse learners
• Help ensure accurate progress reporting and data-driven decision making
• Foster a collaborative, inclusive environment that promotes student success
