Avenal Landfill, a Waste Connections company, is seeking a Gas Technician Assistant / Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in Avenal, CA!

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM, with the occasional Saturday work as needed.

\n

Compensation: Starting pay is $22-$26 per hour, based on experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, 401k, paid vacation, and more.

Duties and Responsibilities:

\n
    \n
  • Assist our Gas Technician with duties such as pipe welding, pump installation, flare monitoring and being trained on reading other gas related equipment
  • \n
  • Checking, monitoring, cleaning, and collecting data from gas wells
  • \n
  • Clean and repair leachate or water pump by lifting and lowering 100 foot long cables
  • \n
  • Operate Dozer, Excavator, and Haul Truck to support well and pump installation
  • \n
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of equipment
  • \n
  • Provide assistance to customers and team members as required
  • \n
  • Responsibly operate a company vehicle for parts running as needed, ensuring timely and safe delivery of materials.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and occasional rain.
  • \n
  • The position involves physical labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • \n
  • The environment may be dusty, noisy, and require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as hearing protection, gloves, and safety boots.
  • \n
  • There will be exposure to machinery and heavy equipment, so safety protocols and precautions are strictly followed.
  • \n

Minimum Job Requirements:

\n
    \n
  • 2+ years of heavy equipment operating experience
  • \n
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • \n
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted
  • \n
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
  • \n
  • Valid driver's license with clean record
  • \n
  • Ability to work effectively in various outdoor conditions, including exposure to weather elements, physical labor, and a dynamic work environment.
