Nurse Next Door is seeking a dependable, confident, and compassionate Personal Assistant to provide dedicated one-on-one support to an individual with complex needs.
This is not a traditional office-based personal assistant position. This role combines personal assistance, caregiving, companionship, daily structure, and hands-on support. We are looking for someone who is comfortable working independently and building a consistent, professional relationship with one individual.
The right person will be patient, emotionally mature, dependable, and able to remain calm and professional in situations that may sometimes be difficult or challenging.
What You'll Do
You will work directly with one individual and provide support with day-to-day life, which may include:
Assisting with daily routines and activities
Providing companionship and one-on-one support
Helping maintain structure and consistency throughout the day
Assisting with household and daily living tasks
Supporting appointments, errands, outings, and community activities
Encouraging independence while providing appropriate assistance
Communicating professionally with the individual's care team
Following an established care plan and maintaining appropriate professional boundaries
Remaining calm, patient, and solution-focused during challenging situations
Who We're Looking For
This position requires someone who is confident, patient, reliable, and comfortable working in a complex one-on-one environment.
A background in social work, behavioral health, human services, caregiving, case management, developmental disabilities, mental health services, or a related field is a plus, but we are also open to the right person with strong life experience and interpersonal skills.
The ideal candidate is someone who:
Is comfortable with a client who may require significant patience and consistency
Can establish appropriate boundaries while still developing trust and rapport
Does not become easily overwhelmed or take difficult interactions personally
Can redirect situations calmly and professionally
Is dependable and understands the importance of consistency
Can work independently while communicating effectively with the care team
Genuinely enjoys helping another person have a more successful and independent day
Schedule
Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Saturdays
Must be able work to all days 5pm - 8pm with some flexibility on Sat & Sun
If you have experience in social work, behavioral health, caregiving, human services, or simply believe you have the patience, confidence, and personality to succeed in a unique one-on-one role, we'd like to hear from you.
