Experience:

• 2 years of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• Experience with Meditech is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a license (required after submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >50 miles from facility to be submitted.

• COVID vaccination required after submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

• Anyone who worked as Staff at a facility in this program in the last 24 months cannot be submitted.

• Anyone who worked as a traveler at a facility in this program in the last 24 months cannot be submitted.

• Anyone currently working at a facility in this program cannot be submitted.

Additional Details:

Artificial nails are not allowed for any travelers. Failure to adhere could result in being sent home and/or terminated if policy is not followed.

If candidate worked a perm facility in the last 12 months, 1 reference must be from perm facility.

References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you’re applying to.

Special Requests: Eligibility as Current/Previous Employee: cumulative experience applies for previous travelers.

Required Skills/Experience: Must have ventilatory skills. Must be able to work by themselves.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Pediatric experience is preferred; it would be helpful but is not required.

Unit Details: The department handles 50-75+ treatments per day, depending on census. Patient population is mostly adults; in the ED, patients include adults, pediatric patients, and neonates; L&D occasionally includes neonates. RT coverage includes inpatient, outpatient, and ED areas. Future plans include a Sleep Lab and possible cross-training to Pulmonary/Cardiac Rehab. Inpatient duties include vent management, ABG draws, CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, nebulizer treatments, metered-dose inhalers, and flutter/airway clearance. Outpatient duties include setting up nocturnal pulse oximetry and obtaining blood gases. RTs assist with intubation for now; independent intubation is not currently required. Equipment includes Hamilton Medical C1 and C3 vents for BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow oxygen, Masimo SoftFlow high-flow systems, Masimo pulse oximeters, a GEM5000 ABG analyzer, and ResMed bedside CPAP/BiPAP. Hospitalist/intensivist coverage is in-house during the day and on call at night.

Floating Requirements: Everyone works together; one person will be assigned to the ER and will have a lighter workload that day.

Shift & Scheduling: Shift times are 5:45-615. Every Monday and Tuesday are day shifts; Wednesday and Friday night shifts alternate. Extra shifts may be available to pick up due to vacation requests. Every other weekend. Holiday shifts will be filled in where needed.

14 days maximum time off

1 Charge/Lead/Supervisor reference required from within the last 2 years

Driver’s license required for submission

Certifications:

• BLS (Basic Life Support)

• RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) or the alternative certification CRT

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
