As an Administrative Assistant 2 with the Department of State, you will step into a leadership role that supports key licensing activities. Each day brings new tasks that help applicants, staff, and the public receive timely and accurate information. Your work will strengthen operations and contribute to the success of multiple professional boards. This position offers a chance to grow your skills while serving an important statewide mission.
DESCRIPTION OF WORKThis role provides supervision, guidance, and direction to staff who manage application processing and board support activities. It serves as a resource to several professional boards and helps coordinate daily operational needs. As an Administrative Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:
- Staff Leadership: Provide direction, coaching, and oversight to licensing and certification evaluators
- Work Coordination: Manage daily workload priorities and monitor progress across all assigned tasks
- Application Review: Review applications, determine eligibility, and refer complex cases as needed
- Board Support: Assist board administrators by helping maintain manuals and responding to inquiries
- Process Development: Develop forms, assist with system improvements, and support division procedures
- Hiring Support: Participate in interviewing, selecting, and onboarding new clerical staff

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
- Work schedule is negotiable.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 50% after upon successful completion of probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a staff assistant to an administrative officer or as a technician in a staff service of a large organization; and such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four year college or university; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
