General Building Maintenance Technician (Plumbing Experience Preferred)
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled General Building Maintenance Technician with plumbing experience to support the maintenance, repair, and operation of commercial facilities in the St. Louis, MO area. This role is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks, including plumbing repairs, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting building systems, and general facility upkeep. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, able to work independently, and committed to providing a safe and functional environment for building occupants.
Responsibilities
- Perform general building maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance on facility systems and equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair plumbing systems including pipes, valves, fixtures, drains, and water distribution systems.
- Complete routine inspections of building systems to identify maintenance needs and prevent equipment failures.
- Respond to maintenance requests and emergency repair situations in a timely manner.
- Assist with minor electrical, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and mechanical repairs as needed.
- Maintain and repair restrooms, break rooms, common areas, and facility infrastructure.
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete maintenance tasks.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, manuals, and work orders.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety policies, building codes, and maintenance standards.
- Communicate effectively with coworkers, contractors, and facility occupants regarding maintenance activities.
- Maintain accurate records of completed work and preventative maintenance activities.
- Prioritize multiple work orders while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
Required Skills
- Experience in building maintenance, facilities maintenance, or commercial property maintenance.
- Plumbing experience including installation, repair, and troubleshooting of plumbing systems.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance practices and facility operations.
- Ability to use common maintenance hand and power tools.
- Mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with building safety regulations and maintenance best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in commercial, institutional, healthcare, manufacturing, or educational facilities.
- Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, carpentry, or mechanical systems.
- Experience working in a facilities maintenance environment.
- Trade school education, maintenance certifications, or plumbing certifications are a plus.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
