About the Role:
Bannett & Della Torre Eye Physicians is looking for a skilled and compassionate Ophthalmology Technician to join our growing team in Woodbury, NJ! This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced ophthalmologists in a patient-focused environment where your skills truly make a difference in people's lives.
Responsibilities:
- Assist ophthalmologists during patient exams and clinical procedures
- Perform preliminary eye testing including visual acuity, tonometry, and refractometry
- Obtain and document detailed patient medical and ocular histories
- Administer eye drops and prepare patients for diagnostic testing
- Operate and maintain ophthalmic equipment such as slit lamps, OCT, and visual field analyzers
- Educate patients on post-procedure care and medication instructions
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records (EMR)
Requirements:
- Prior experience as an ophthalmic technician or in an ophthalmology clinical setting preferred
- COA, COT, or COMT certification is a plus
- Familiarity with ophthalmic diagnostic equipment and testing procedures
- Strong patient communication and bedside manner skills
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- High school diploma or equivalent required; medical or ophthalmic training preferred
