Our facility is looking for a Maintenance / Rack & Tool Maker (Fabricator) who can combine skilled metal fabrication with hands-on industrial maintenance.
A key part of this position is building, modifying, and repairing the racks and tooling used to hold parts during our metal-finishing processes. You'll need to be comfortable cutting, bending, fitting, and welding metal to create racks and tooling for a variety of parts and production needs.
This is not an entry-level welding position. Applicants must have a current AWS welding certification and be willing to demonstrate their welding skills onsite as part of the selection process.
When rack and tooling fabrication is not needed, you'll work as part of the maintenance team, helping maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production equipment and facility systems.
This position is a good fit for someone who enjoys variety, likes figuring out how to build or repair things, and has both the fabrication skills and mechanical aptitude to move between welding projects and general maintenance work.
- Fabricate, modify, and repair racks, fixtures, and tooling used in production.
- Cut, bend, shape, fit, and weld metal to create racks and tooling for specific parts and processes.
- Determine how racks and tooling should be constructed based on production needs.
- Accurately measure, fit, and fabricate components to required dimensions.
- Repair damaged or worn racks and tooling when practical.
- Use welding and fabrication equipment safely and effectively.
- Work from measurements, samples, drawings, job requirements, and instructions.
- Troubleshoot fabrication and mechanical problems and determine practical solutions.
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on production equipment.
- Assist with mechanical and facility maintenance as needed.
- Safely use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and shop equipment.
- Complete required maintenance paperwork and documentation.
- Follow established safety procedures, work instructions, and Company policies.
- Maintain clean and organized tools, equipment, and work areas.
- Current AWS welding certification – required.
- Demonstrated welding ability – candidates must be willing to complete an onsite welding skills demonstration.
- Hands-on experience cutting, bending, fitting, and fabricating metal.
- Ability to fabricate racks, fixtures, tooling, or similar custom metal components.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to measure accurately and fabricate to required dimensions.
- Ability to look at a fabrication need or mechanical problem and determine a practical solution.
- Experience using common hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication equipment.
- Ability to read and follow written instructions, work orders, measurements, drawings, and maintenance documentation.
- Willingness to perform general maintenance duties when fabrication work is not needed.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently while also supporting production and the maintenance team.
We're looking for more than someone who knows how to run a welder. We need someone who can look at what production needs, determine how to build it, fabricate it accurately, and then use those same hands-on problem-solving skills to help maintain our equipment and facility.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, and work in various positions throughout the shift.
- Ability to use hands and arms for welding, fabrication, maintenance, and repair work.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication equipment.
- Ability to work around production equipment and machinery.
- Ability to perform physical work associated with industrial maintenance and metal fabrication.
- Ability to safely lift and move materials, tools, and equipment as required by the position.
