TIG Welder (Stainless Steel & Finishing Specialist)

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled TIG Welder specializing in thin-gauge stainless steel sheet fabrication and high-quality surface finishing. This is a stable 1st shift position offering consistent daytime hours with minimal overtime requirements. The ideal candidate takes pride in clean, precise welds and flawless post-weld finishing.

Key Responsibilities

• TIG Welding: Perform Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) on stainless steel sheet metal, maintaining tight tolerances and preventing distortion on thin materials.
• Material Prep & Finishing: Grind, blend, sand, and polish welds and surrounding metal surfaces to achieve specified cosmetic and structural finishes (e.g., #4 brush, mirror polish, or smooth blend).
• Blueprint Reading: Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work orders to layout, fit, and weld components accurately.
• Quality Control: Inspect finished assemblies for defects, warping, or surface flaws prior to final sign-off.
• Equipment Maintenance: Maintain a clean workspace and perform routine upkeep on TIG welders, torches, grinders, and hand tools.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to shop safety rules, including wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE).

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: 2+ years of professional TIG welding experience, with a strong focus on stainless steel sheet metal.
• Finishing Skills: Demonstrated experience using die grinders, sanders, and polishing equipment to finish stainless steel to high cosmetic standards.
• Technical Knowledge: Ability to read blueprints, select correct tungsten/filler rods, and dial in proper machine settings for thin metals.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical school certification preferred.

Shift & Working Conditions

• Schedule: 1st Shift (Daytime hours).
• Overtime: Minimal/rarely required; stable standard work week.
• Environment: Climate-controlled indoor manufacturing shop floor; standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 lbs.
