Job Description
This role focuses on performing detailed inspections of electronic assemblies, raw materials, components, and subassemblies within a highly regulated aerospace and defense manufacturing environment. You ensure that all products meet stringent customer, aerospace, defense, and internal quality requirements by verifying conformance to engineering drawings, specifications, and industry standards such as AS9100, ISO 9001, and MIL-STD. You document inspection results, support nonconformance investigations, and collaborate closely with Quality, Engineering, and Production teams to drive continuous improvement and enhance product reliability.
Responsibilities- Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of raw materials, components, subassemblies, and finished electronic assemblies to ensure compliance with customer, aerospace, defense, and internal quality requirements.
- Verify product conformance to engineering drawings, work instructions, specifications, and applicable standards including AS9100, ISO 9001, and MIL-STD requirements.
- Accurately document inspection results, nonconformances, and quality records in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Review Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) inspection reports to ensure dimensional compliance.
- Use inspection and test equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, multimeters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and other electronic test instruments to validate product quality.
- Identify defects and nonconforming material, initiate Nonconformance Reports (NCRs), and coordinate disposition activities with Quality, Engineering, and Production teams.
- Support root cause investigations and corrective and preventive action initiatives to reduce recurring quality issues and improve product reliability.
- Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to resolve quality concerns and improve inspection and production processes.
- Assist with internal audits and support external customer, AS9100, Department of Defense, and regulatory audits as required.
- Maintain accurate inspection records, certifications, travelers, and quality documentation to ensure full traceability and compliance.
- Verify First Article Inspections (FAIs), process validations, and special process documentation when applicable.
- Ensure adherence to all quality, safety, and regulatory requirements within a highly controlled aerospace and defense manufacturing environment.
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and process effectiveness.
- Work a 1st shift schedule, generally 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday on a 9/80 schedule, and remain comfortable working overtime as needed.
- Apply both electrical and mechanical inspection experience to evaluate complex electronic assemblies, wiring, and mechanical interfaces.
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to verify proper assembly and configuration.
- Inspect soldering, SMT (surface mount technology), and electronic assembly workmanship in alignment with J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, and IPC-A-620 standards.
- 35+ years of quality experience in Department of Defense (DoD) or aerospace environments.
- Hands-on experience with all stages of inspection, including First Article Inspection (FAI), receiving inspection, in-process inspection, and final inspection.
- Previous experience working with AS9100, ISO 9001, and MIL-STD quality and process requirements.
- Proficiency with Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) and similar quality reporting and documentation processes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Experience inspecting electrical assemblies, wiring, and electronic assemblies, including soldering and SMT processes.
- Familiarity with J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, and IPC-A-620 standards for electronic and cable/harness assembly.
- IPC-A-620 certification.
- Experience with IPC/WHMA-A-620 Space Addendum requirements.
- Experience with NASA workmanship standards.
- Ability to use inspection and test equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, multimeters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and other electronic test instruments.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documenting inspection results, nonconformances, and quality records.
- Ability to work effectively in a regulated aerospace and defense manufacturing environment and adhere to quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with both electrical and mechanical inspection work.
- Previous or current experience inspecting products for aerospace or space-related programs.
- Experience working to space or NASA-related standards and requirements.
- Experience reviewing CMM inspection reports and verifying dimensional compliance.
- Exposure to internal and external audits, including customer, AS9100, Department of Defense, and regulatory audits.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality, to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
- Comfort working overtime in alignment with production and inspection needs.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and process effectiveness.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
