Job Title: Quality Inspector

Job Description

The Quality Inspector performs receiving and in-process inspections to ensure all parts meet blueprint specifications, quality standards, and documentation requirements in a highly regulated manufacturing environment. This role measures parts using precision tools, verifies certifications, documents inspection results, and supports non-conformance processing within an ERP system.

Responsibilities

  • Perform receiving inspections by pulling parts from inventory and verifying whether the lot number has already been inspected to minimize duplicate paperwork.
  • Review engineering drawings and inspection check sheets to identify required certifications and confirm that all certifications align with the processes specified on the blueprint.
  • Measure parts using calipers, rules, micrometers, and radius gauges to ensure all dimensions meet blueprint and specification requirements before parts move to inventory.
  • Verify that part dimensions and associated certifications fully comply with blueprint and quality standards.
  • Create, complete, and maintain in-process (WIP) inspection reports both electronically and by hand, ensuring accurate and legible documentation.
  • Work within Oracle or similar ERP systems to process non-conformances and complete all required documentation for discrepancies and quality issues.
  • Inspect work-in-process parts to confirm they meet print requirements and work order instructions, identifying any deviations promptly.
  • Calibrate gauges and test equipment according to established calibration schedules and document calibration activities as required.
  • Rotate between work-in-process inspections and receiving inspections based on assigned schedule, supporting workflow needs and team priorities.
  • Follow priorities established by the planning group or by inspecting the oldest parts in receiving inventory to maintain efficient throughput.
  • Use basic computer skills to enter, update, and retrieve inspection and quality data in electronic systems.
  • Collaborate with the quality team to address inspection findings and support continuous adherence to quality standards in a regulated environment.

Essential Skills

  • Entry-level to 23 years of experience in quality or quality assurance roles.
  • Experience working with calipers, rules, micrometers, and radius gauges for dimensional inspection.
  • Experience or familiarity with quality assurance, quality assurance testing, quality improvement, and quality standards.
  • Basic understanding of computer operation for data entry and use of electronic inspection systems.
  • Experience using Oracle or other ERP systems for handling non-conformances or production/quality data.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and inspection check sheets.
  • Ability to work effectively in a highly regulated industry environment such as aerospace, medical device, GMP, or automotive.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Aerospace industry experience preferred.
  • Understanding of military rivet specifications is a plus.
  • Experience in highly regulated industries such as medical device, GMP, or automotive is beneficial.
  • Recent military separation is viewed positively.
  • Recent technical school graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Bachelors degree is preferred and supports internal career growth and promotability.
  • Prior experience with Oracle or other ERP systems is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurements and documentation.
  • Comfort working with calibration schedules and maintaining calibrated gauges and test equipment.

Why Work Here?

You will work in a climate-controlled facility where all necessary tools are provided, allowing you to focus on quality and craftsmanship. The organization offers a structured environment with clear processes and the potential for strong benefits upon conversion to a direct role. You will join a supportive quality team that values professional development, internal promotability, and experience gained through technical education or military service.

Work Environment

The role is based in a climate-controlled manufacturing and inspection environment. The quality team includes multiple quality technicians and an engineer, with a quality lead who coordinates specialty inspections and assigns workflow. Work is organized with a rotation between work-in-process inspections and receiving inspections, which may alternate monthly; the new hire may float between these areas or receive a monthly assignment. Inspection priorities are set by the planning group or by focusing on the oldest parts in receiving inventory. The typical schedule is four 10-hour shifts per week, which may be Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday, with a preference for Tuesday through Friday. Standard hours are approximately 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with flexibility to work 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. if preferred. The team currently averages 4045 hours per week, and any additional days worked are usually shorter shifts.
