Job Title: Warehouse Supervisor

Job Description

The Warehouse Supervisor oversees day-to-day operations in a high-volume warehousing facility, ensuring safe, efficient, and accurate handling of inbound, outbound, and claims processing activities. This role works closely with site leadership to manage workforce scheduling, drive continuous improvement, and maintain strong relationships with union and hourly team members while upholding rigorous safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all warehouse operations, including inbound, outbound, and claims processing activities.
  • Work closely with site leadership to ensure operational objectives are met and processes are followed.
  • Manage the day-to-day PRC operations while maintaining strict controls over processes and procedures.
  • Lead hourly teams in daily operations, providing clear direction and support.
  • Oversee all staffing issues, including attendance, vacation planning, daily work assignments, and coverage.
  • Cover crews in the absence of other supervisors to maintain smooth operations.
  • Schedule the workforce, including overtime and vacation, to meet production and service requirements.
  • Attend, facilitate, and document crew meetings, ensuring accurate and timely submission of all required records.
  • Prepare and maintain work-related records and reports as needed.
  • Develop and implement projects to improve overall operating metrics and reduce budgeted expenses.
  • Champion and lead continuous improvement initiatives to drive best-in-class performance.
  • Implement a continuous improvement culture with hourly staff, encouraging ideas and participation.
  • Develop and lead safety initiatives to promote a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Actively participate in building a safety culture that maintains a zero-incident mindset.
  • Proactively address safety concerns in an expedient manner and ensure adherence to safety guidelines.
  • Work with salaried and hourly teams to improve safety culture and compliance with safety procedures.
  • Maintain and develop strong quality procedures to ensure the facility operates at the highest performance levels.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with UAW counterparts and foster positive union relationships.
  • Ensure accurate application of national and local union contracts in daily operations and decision-making.
  • Directly supervise and mentor other supervisors, including training and performance guidance.
  • Drive accountability across the team for safety, quality, productivity, and attendance.
  • Monitor and influence key operational metrics such as error rates, denial rates, overtime percentage, absenteeism, vacation scheduling, grid time, on-time delivery, and LPMH.
  • Promote and maintain overall building organization and cleanliness.
  • Support grievance resolution processes in a fair and timely manner.
  • Ensure process adherence and support process improvement initiatives across all operational areas.
  • Support environmental responsibilities and ISO-related requirements as applicable.
  • Demonstrate proven dependability and foster a team-oriented, collaborative work environment.
  • Work flexible hours, including potential weekends and overtime, based on business needs.
  • Willingly work rotating shifts or any shift as required to support facility operations.

  • At least 1 year of previous supervision experience in an operations, warehouse, or similar environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Proven leadership capability with demonstrated examples of leading teams in past roles.
  • Experience supervising or managing hourly staff in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to interpret data, evaluate actions, and reach logical conclusions independently.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and enforce accountability.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Goal-oriented mindset with a focus on achieving operational targets.
  • Continuous improvement mindset and willingness to champion improvement initiatives.
  • Proven dependability and a record of successful team-oriented experience.
  • Willingness and ability to work outside traditional work hours, including overtime and weekends as required.
  • Flexibility to work rotating or varying shifts as business needs dictate.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous UAW or high-volume center (HVC) supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn, SAP and EWM systems.
  • Experience building and maintaining positive relationships with union representatives and hourly staff.
  • Familiarity with building safety programs and safety performance metrics.
  • Understanding of key operational metrics such as error rate, denial rate, overtime percentage, absenteeism, vacation scheduling, grid time, on-time delivery, and LPMH.
  • Experience with process adherence and process improvement initiatives.
  • Exposure to ISO and environmental responsibilities within a warehousing or manufacturing setting.
  • Experience in grievance resolution and contract interpretation is an advantage.
  • Experience in warehouse management and supervision in a distribution or aftermarket parts environment is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated willingness to work up within an organization and grow into roles with greater responsibility.
  • Comfort mentoring and directly supervising other supervisors.
  • Ability to maintain overall building organization and cleanliness standards.

Work Environment

This role is based in a warehousing facility that handles aftermarket parts, which are received, stored, and shipped to dealerships across the country. The operation includes a sheet metal area, standard warehousing functions, and a dock operation that interfaces with all parts of the facility for incoming and outgoing materials. The site currently runs two shifts, with operational hours typically spanning from early morning (around 6:00 AM) until late at night (around 1:30 AM), and shift flexibility is required. Overtime and some weekend work may be necessary, depending on business demands. Safety is the top priority, with a strong safety culture and a zero-incident mindset. Safety vests and safety glasses are required at all times on the warehouse floor, and employees are expected to follow all safety procedures and guidelines. The environment is fast-paced, team-oriented, and highly focused on continuous improvement, organization, cleanliness, and adherence to established processes and quality standards.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $29.38 - $32.44/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
