About this job

Job Description

Thor Executive is conducting a confidential search on behalf of an international nuclear energy company for a Head of Business Development, Americas. This is a senior, high-visibility role for a commercially-minded leader who wants to build a business development function from the ground up and help shape the company's growth trajectory across the region — with a strong emphasis on the hyperscaler and data center market as a key growth vertical.

\n

\n

About the Opportunity

\n

\n

This is a strategic leadership position for someone who thrives on building rather than maintaining. You'll own the Americas business development strategy end-to-end — from market analysis and opportunity identification through deal capture and team building — with particular focus on capturing opportunities in the data center and hyperscale computing space, where demand for reliable, carbon-free power is accelerating. You'll work closely with regional and global leadership to align growth initiatives with the company's broader strategic direction, and you'll be the face of the organization at industry events, customer meetings, and public forums.

\n

Reporting Structure: Executive Director of Business Development (Global) and the President, Americas

\n

\n

Location: Remote (US-based, with regular travel)

\n

\n

What You'll Do

\n
    \n
  • Build a business development pipeline from scratch, targeting strategic opportunities across the nuclear sector — with a specific focus on hyperscaler and data center customers — to drive long-term revenue growth
  • \n
  • Track competitor movements, customer needs, emerging technology, and market/economic shifts across both the broader nuclear space and the data center power market to keep the company ahead of the curve
  • \n
  • Create detailed capture plans for priority targets, including approach strategy, competitive positioning, and business case fundamentals
  • \n
  • Lead negotiations on teaming agreements, contract structures, and deal terms that align with the company's risk appetite and financial goals
  • \n
  • Oversee proposal efforts that support new business wins
  • \n
  • Cultivate a strong network of industry relationships and customer partnerships, including key players in the hyperscale and colocation data center space
  • \n
  • Partner with internal technical and operations teams to translate customer challenges into workable solutions
  • \n
  • Hire, mentor, and lead a growing business development team, putting the right processes in place to scale
  • \n
\n

\n

What You Bring

\n

\n
    \n
  • 15+ years in the nuclear industry or closely adjacent power generation sectors, including at least 10 years in business development
  • \n
  • A track record of success in progressively senior, customer-facing BD roles; experience selling into hyperscaler, data center, or large-load commercial/industrial customers is highly valued
  • \n
  • Experience setting strategic direction and turning it into an execution roadmap
  • \n
  • Strong relationship-building skills with a results-driven approach
  • \n
  • Sharp strategic thinking around industry and market trends, with the ability to act on new opportunities
  • \n
  • Polished communication and influencing skills across executive, government, and technical audiences
  • \n
  • Solid commercial and negotiation acumen, with fluency in strategic analysis tools and business models
  • \n
  • An entrepreneurial, self-starter mentality
  • \n
  • Willingness to travel as business needs require
  • \n
\n

\n

Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field preferred; equivalent U.S. Navy nuclear or industry experience will also be considered.
