About Kenna
\nKenna® is an enterprise-grade merchandise, technology, and operations partner for the world's most recognized brands. We build iconic merchandise experiences by connecting culture, innovation, and collaboration with e-commerce, digital enablement, data intelligence, and operational infrastructure on a global scale. The best products don’t just represent a brand — they become a platform for storytelling, engagement, acquisition, revenue, and loyalty.
\nEvery detail matters.
\nSummary
\nWe're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our engineering team and take ownership of complex, high-impact projects across the stack. You'll design and build scalable backend services in Node.js on GCP Cloud Run, with MongoDB as the primary datastore, while also contributing to front-end experiences built with React and React Router. As a senior member of the team, you'll be expected to write high-quality, maintainable code, make sound architectural decisions, mentor other engineers, and help set technical direction — all while balancing security, performance, and scalability as first-class concerns. This role touches everything from API integration work and UI component development to CI/CD collaboration and secure coding practices.
\nResponsibilities
\n- \n
- Design, build, and maintain Node.js microservices deployed on GCP Cloud Run \n
- Build and integrate REST APIs across a variety of sources — including our own services, third-party platforms, and client-specific APIs \n
- Model and query data in MongoDB, with an eye toward performance and scalability \n
- Build reusable, well-structured React UI components and maintain front-end features using React Router \n
- Write and maintain unit tests for new and existing code, and help establish code coverage standards as part of our CI/CD pipeline \n
- Design services with security and scalability as first-class concerns (authentication, authorization, input validation, rate limiting, secrets management, horizontal scaling) \n
- Write secure code by default, following best practices for dependency and vulnerability management \n
- Collaborate on CI/CD workflows and vulnerability management processes \n
- Support integrations with third-party platforms and vendors (e.g., Shopify Admin/Flow/GraphQL APIs, fraud/identity verification services) \n
- Participate in load and performance testing (e.g., k6, Grafana) to validate services under scale \n
- Work with Cloudflare, including Cloudflare Workers, for edge compute and request handling where applicable \n
Requirements
\n- \n
- Professional experience building backend services in Node.js \n
- Experience with MongoDB (schema design, indexing, performance tuning) \n
- Hands-on experience with GCP or a comparable cloud provider \n
- Solid understanding of REST API design and integration \n
- Front-end experience with React, including building UI components and working with React Router \n
- Strong unit testing habits and experience with testing frameworks \n
- Demonstrated ability to design for scalability and security (authentication, authorization, input validation, secure secrets handling) \n
- Comfortable working across the stack and collaborating with cross-functional teams \n
Nice to Have
\n- \n
- Experience with Cloudflare, especially building or maintaining Cloudflare Workers \n
- Experience building or maintaining Shopify apps, Shopify Flow workflows, or Shopify Admin/GraphQL integrations \n
- Experience with load/performance testing tools (k6, Grafana) \n
- Experience with SSO implementations (e.g., Multipass-style authentication) \n
- Experience with CI/CD pipeline design and maintenance \n
