Job Description
Automation Finance - Automation Lead
CFGI Automated Finance provides Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Cyber, and other services to clients. A key component of the delivery is our PRISM system, which is used by our client teams during five-year contracts. The Director of Customer Success and Quality provides a critical linkage between PRISM and client delivery teams, especially with onboarding and ongoing, evolving client requirements.
The Automation Lead runs the team that turns a client’s month-end close into a repeatable automated pipeline—and keeps the Elixir/Python seam narrow enough that each new client is cheaper than the last.
What you’ll do:
- Lead the engineers building per-client close automations: scope, sequence, and ship each engagement’s pipeline from ERP extraction through to posted journal entries.
- Own the delivery relationship with the accounting teams behind each engagement—what their close actually requires, and what “correct” means for their workpapers.
- Hold the architectural line: extraction, authentication, staging, and journal-entry posting stay in Elixir; only the SQLMesh transformation stays in Python. Resist widening that boundary under delivery pressure.
- Drive the harvest from bespoke to reusable—turn a client-specific pipeline into a platform built-in workflow that other engagements can run with configuration rather than code.
- Own correctness before anything posts: tie-outs, zero-delta checks, reconciliation, and the human review gates in front of a client’s ledger.
- Mentor and manage the automation engineers, and run a roadmap across concurrent client engagements.
What you’ll work on—the actual stack:
- ms-automations—the per-client packages (NetSuite and QuickBooks Online today), their SQLMesh transformation trees, and the Parquet seam that joins them to the platform.
- The vendoring path into cfgi-platform and the workflow built-ins that run these pipelines as deliverables with review and approval steps.
- ERP integrations—NetSuite via SuiteQL and QuickBooks Online—and the behavior/mock seams that keep them testable without live credentials.
- DuckDB and SQLMesh transformation pipelines, and the artifact formats (workpapers and journal-entry files) accounting teams actually consume.
What you must have:
- 10+ years of experience.
- Experience leading a small engineering team through concurrent client deliveries.
What sets you apart:
- Demonstrated hands-on experience developing and maintaining production applications or integrations in Elixir.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience developing and maintaining production data pipelines or automation solutions in Python.
- Strong SQL and data-pipeline skills, using SQLMesh, dbt, or equivalent transformation tooling.
- Accounting literacy to reason about a month-end close, a journal entry, and what a tie-out actually proves.
Nice to have:
- Direct NetSuite or QuickBooks Online integration experience is a plus.
- A background in month-end close, controllership, or audit is a plus.
- A track record of productizing bespoke client work into a reusable platform capability is a plus.
Who thrives here:
- You have the discipline to keep an integration boundary narrow when a deadline argues for widening it.
