TOOL ROOM MACHINIST - 2nd SHIFT
Wright City, MO (St. Louis area) | Full-time, direct hire
Schedule: 4:15pm-2:45am, Monday-Thursday
Pay: $32+/hour depending on experience
$3,000 to $5,000 SIGN-ON BONUS
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
A precision machining company serving the aerospace and defense sector is adding a Tool Room Machinist on 2nd shift. This is a build-it-yourself seat: you take a tooling or fixture requirement from concept through programming, machining, prove-out and implementation.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Design, develop, machine, modify and repair fixtures, jigs, workholding and tooling
- Use Mastercam to create, modify, troubleshoot and optimize CNC programs
- Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes, 3-axis and 5-axis, plus manual toolroom equipment
- Determine machining methods, tooling, workholding, speeds, feeds and sequence of operations
- Run machine prove-outs and trial runs to verify programs, setups and dimensional accuracy
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, CAD models and GD&T
- Verify conformance with calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, height gauges and dial indicators
- Work with Engineering, Quality, Production and Programming to solve manufacturing problems
- Find ways to cut setup and cycle time and improve tooling and fixture design
- Work to AS9100, ISO 9000 and internal QMS requirements
- Provide technical guidance to other machinists; keep a clean, FOD-free area and support 5S
WHAT YOU NEED
- Previous toolroom machining experience (required)
- CNC programming with Mastercam (required)
- Experience designing and manufacturing fixtures, workholding, jigs and tooling (required)
- Strong CNC setup, programming and troubleshooting; manual machining experience
- Solid knowledge of cutting tools, feeds and speeds, tooling selection and workholding
- Tight-tolerance machining with precision measurement equipment
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate across departments
- Aerospace, defense or other precision manufacturing experience preferred
- Lean or continuous improvement knowledge preferred
- Eligible to work in the U.S. at an ITAR facility without company sponsorship
