Job Description

Position Summary:

Help seniors stay independent and keep living safely at home.

We're hiring COTAs at two PACE day program locations in San Diego County: Chula Vista (South County) and Vista(North County). Each position is based at one location only, so you'll work at the site you're hired for, with no travel between sites. Choose the location closest to home.

You'll work with older adults on the skills that keep them independent: daily living activities, safe mobility, and adaptive equipment. You'll be part of a multidisciplinary team focused on each person's dignity and quality of life.

Why COTAs choose this role

  • Meaningful geriatric work in a community setting, not a hospital floor
  • Two locations to choose from, with no travel between sites
  • Both individual and group treatment, for variety in your day
  • A multicultural, multidisciplinary team
  • A well-equipped therapy space: parallel bars, training stairs, treatment table, ultrasound and e-stim, bikes, and treadmills
  • Ongoing professional development through in-services, trainings, and workshops

What you'll do

  • Carry out individualized and group OT treatment plans under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist
  • Help participants build function and independence in daily living activities
  • Train participants and caregivers on adaptive devices and self-care techniques
  • Track progress, recommend plan updates, and document treatment in each participant's health record
  • Help make sure equipment and supplies are available
  • Help train staff and caregivers

What you'll need

  • Active California COTA license, with passing scores on the national and state exams
  • Current BLS/CPR
  • 2 years of experience with the geriatric population after completing your degree
  • Ability to perform max-assist transfers, lift, and stand for long periods
  • Strong communication and computer skills
  • Bilingual skills preferred

About the program: PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) helps seniors stay in their homes and communities by bringing therapy, care, and day services together in one program.
