Summary

The physician assistant will work in conjunction with the physicians to provide patients with comprehensive and personalized health care. Within this framework, the PA is expected to work in autonomy with medical decision making which will include but not limited to, taking a proper history, performing physical exam, ordering diagnostic test and procedures, prescribing medications, educating and instructing patients regarding recommended therapeutic regimens, and documenting patient findings, diagnosis, and treatment plans.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • The PA must be willing to assist the physicians when necessary.
  • Ability to identify medical problems and patient needs, then record pertinent data in EMR in a professional format.
  • Obtain and interpret routine diagnostic studies such as common lab tests and imaging studies.
  • Formulate an initial diagnosis and differential diagnosis, instituting appropriate treatment, including writing and submitting prescriptions.
  • Perform therapeutic procedures as indicated by the practice.
  • Provide follow up care and treatment after initial evaluation and diagnosis.
  • Counsel and instruct patients on issues involving injury prevention, exercise, nutrition, CBD products, therapy, and general health fundamentals.
  • Record progress notes, implement prescribed treatment plans, and modify treatment according to patient ability and/or improvement.
  • Always maintain a professional and cordial accommodating and welcoming presence to patients, providers, and staff.
  • Manage schedule to ensure functioning optimally and utilize the medical assistant to assist with managing your schedule to ensure highest capacity.
  • Perform other duties and procedures as assigned by physicians.


Education and Qualifications

  • Completion of physician assistant degree and course of study at an accredited school of higher learning.
  • Current NYS license and registration.
  • Minimal 2 years of experience in medical practice environment.
  • Current DEA license.
  • Continue to stay up to date on continuing medical education.
  • Knowledge of medical compliance regulations. Familiarity with no fault, workers compensation, and local HMO’s insurance carriers.
  • Ability to take initiative, exercise judgment modifies or adapt standards to meet different criteria while using the practice policies and regulations to base all decisions.
  • Exceptional interpersonal organization and prioritization skills.
  • Professional appearance, demeanor, and ability to handle confidential matters, abiding by HIPPA regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with primary care physicians and specialist.
  • Representative of health care organizations, vendors, providers, staff, and practice. Ability to use high level of diplomacy sensitivity and compassion to achieve the desired results.
  • To attend community events and market practice as needed.
  • To understand the financial implications of the practice and personal responsibility for cost effectiveness.
