TEMPORARY PERSONNEL – FOOD MANAGER/COOK

Effective Date: October 2026

General Description

The Food Manager/Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, serving, and storing food for clients, staff, and guests. The position requires maintaining high standards of food safety, sanitation, professionalism, and customer service while supporting the mission and values of BARC.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in food preparation, food handling, storage, kitchen sanitation, or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a hospital, skilled nursing, or medical facility preferred.
  • Must have a valid Florida Food Manager Certification, such as ServSafe or equivalent.
  • Must be available to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must communicate professionally and maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes and menus.
  • Prepare special or therapeutic diets as required.
  • Monitor and record food temperatures and complete required kitchen logs.
  • Maintain proper food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards.
  • Operate and safely maintain kitchen equipment.
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen areas, equipment, utensils, and storage areas.
  • Follow proper portion control and food-service procedures.
  • Maintain inventory and assist with receiving, storing, and organizing food and supplies.
  • Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory practices.
  • Report equipment problems, supply shortages, and maintenance needs to the supervisor.
  • Follow all dietary, safety, sanitation, and facility policies.
  • Assist with special meals and events as needed.
  • Take initiative during staffing shortages, emergencies, or supply issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
