Job Description

Energy Transport is looking for a Fleet Agent who understands what it takes to keep commercial trucks and trailers on the road. This is a hands-on fleet operations role for someone who knows that every truck sitting in a shop, every overdue PM, and every unresolved equipment issue has an impact on the operation.  You’ll work closely with our Fleet Director, terminal teams, drivers, and maintenance vendors to help manage the day-to-day health of our fleet — coordinating repairs, tracking preventive maintenance, maintaining fleet systems and records, monitoring equipment, and helping get units back on the road quickly and safely.

You’ll be involved in the daily operation of a commercial truck and trailer fleet, including:

  • Monitor daily fleet maintenance activity and communicate equipment status to terminal leadership.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, and scheduled vehicle service.
  • Track tractors, trailers, and other equipment approaching required maintenance or inspection intervals.
  • Work directly with repair shops, dealerships, tire vendors, and maintenance providers to keep repairs moving and minimize downtime.
  • Follow open repairs from the time a unit goes down until it is returned to service.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance histories, inspection records, registrations, insurance documents, and other fleet records.
  • Enter and review repair invoices and maintenance information in the fleet management system.
  • Coordinate registrations, license plates, permits, stickers, and other vehicle documentation.
  • Add, remove, and update equipment in fleet management, ELD, GPS/telematics, and trailer-tracking systems.
  • Monitor ELDs, GPS units, and trailer-tracking devices and coordinate troubleshooting or replacement when equipment is not operating correctly.
  • Assist with onboarding new tractors, trailers, and other fleet equipment.
  • Maintain accurate equipment and asset information across fleet systems.
  • Assist with tracking maintenance expenses, repair costs, and fleet spending.
  • Identify unusual repair costs, recurring equipment issues, and opportunities to reduce unnecessary downtime or expense.
  • Assist with equipment transfers, replacements, disposals, and other fleet changes.
  • Help ensure fleet equipment remains compliant with applicable DOT, FMCSA, state, and company requirements.
  • Support fleet projects, vendor coordination, reporting, and equipment planning.
  • Step in wherever needed to help keep the fleet safe, compliant, and moving.

Previous experience working with commercial trucks, tractors, trailers, or similar fleet equipment is strongly preferred..

Basic familiarity with DOT/FMCSA commercial vehicle requirements is preferred.

We are looking for someone who understands fleet equipment — not just freight movement.

Strong candidates will have experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Fleet operations
  • Fleet maintenance coordination
  • Commercial truck or trailer maintenance
  • Equipment management
  • Preventive maintenance scheduling
  • Vehicle repair coordination
  • Fleet administration
  • Trucking maintenance operations

Experience in dispatch, freight brokerage, or freight sales without direct fleet, equipment, or maintenance experience is not considered equivalent fleet experience for this position.
