ID/OD Grind Machinist

Job Summary

The ID/OD Machinist - Macomb is responsible for the operation and basic maintenance of CNC ID/OD grinders in the ID/OD Grind Department. The ID/OD Machinist must be able to produce high-quality products according to ID/OD Grind department work instruction.

Duties/Responsibilities

 Clock in & out of appropriate job operations

 Read, interpret, and produce machined dimensions from information on engineering drawings

 Adhere to job plans per job travelers

 Set up and operate CNC and Manual OD and ID grind equipment with minimal supervision

 Grinding of splined shafts and aircraft gears holding tolerances within .0001”

 Basic Maintenance of CNC Grinders

 Use precision measurement equipment to ensure first piece and production quality

 Maintain proper documentation of SPC data

 Consistently produce quality parts

 Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques 

 Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

 High school diploma or equivalent required

 7 years of experience

 Blueprint reading skills

 Shop math skills

 Proficiency in the use of a wide variety of precision measuring tools

 Positive attitude

 Ability to communicate and work with others in a team environment

Physical Requirements

 Good hand-eye coordination

 Able to lift up to 25 lbs.

 Able to stand for long periods of time

 Ability to use hand tools
