Construction Materials Testing & Special Inspector (Entry-Level)

Job Description

We are seeking an Entry-Level Construction Materials Testing & Special Inspector to support commercial, infrastructure, and transportation construction projects. This position offers a strong career path within the construction inspection industry and provides hands-on experience performing field testing, inspections, and documentation for construction materials and installations.

Recent graduates in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or related fields are encouraged to apply. Candidates with ACI, NICET, OSHA certifications, or construction experience are highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field inspections and testing of construction materials, including concrete, soil, asphalt, masonry, and structural steel.
  • Observe construction activities to verify compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and applicable codes.
  • Collect and prepare material samples for laboratory testing.
  • Document inspection and testing activities through detailed daily reports.
  • Maintain accurate records of field observations, test results, and project documentation.
  • Prepare sketches, photographs, and supporting documentation related to inspection activities.
  • Communicate findings with project managers, contractors, engineers, and clients.
  • Follow company safety procedures and maintain compliance with jobsite safety requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Associate's Degree required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Architecture, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to work outdoors and travel to local construction sites.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency for reporting and documentation.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Certification.
  • NICET Certification.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
  • Previous construction, inspection, engineering, materials testing, or field experience.
  • Knowledge of construction materials and laboratory testing procedures.

Compensation & Training

Work Environment

This position is primarily field-based and involves working at active construction sites. Inspectors spend the majority of their time outdoors performing testing and inspections while collaborating with contractors, engineers, and project teams. The role requires walking construction sites, climbing stairs, and working in various weather conditions.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $27.00/hr.
