DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This role centers on conducting administrative hearings and preparing clear decisions that support the proper handling of appeals. Your work helps ensure that programs follow legal requirements and operate with consistency. As a Attorney Examiner, you will perform the following duties:
- Hearing Management: Conduct hearings by administering oaths, examining witnesses, reviewing evidence, and ruling on motions
- Case Evaluation: Prepare adjudications and recommendations by reviewing records, evaluating evidence, and documenting findings
- Legal Research: Review statutes, case law, regulations, and policies and communicate updates to staff
- Case Tracking: Monitor and manage assigned cases to meet required timelines and procedures
- Staff Guidance: Provide direction to legal assistants and administrative law judges on appeal procedures

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
- Overtime as needed
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, upon successful completion of your probationary period and training. Work assignments will primarily take place in the office. Telework will be based on operational needs of the bureau. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Philadelphia. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of professional legal work which includes one year of trial work experience; and a Juris Doctor degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school.
Special Requirement:
- You must possess a certification of current license and active admission in good standing to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.
